Sustainability Progress and Long-Term Planning
The district continues making progress toward sustainability goals through energy-efficient upgrades while noting that achieving full net-zero goals would require significant long-term investments. Leaders emphasized the importance of continuing practical, fiscally responsible progress that balances environmental goals with other district priorities.
Celebrating our Student Board Member and School Achievements
The board recognized Bonneville Elementary School for earning Platinum Level STEM School status and being named a 2026 NAESP National Gold Star School.
The board also honored Student Board Member Foss Goodwin for his service during the past year and congratulated him on his upcoming attendance at Dartmouth College.
Board members reviewed the 2026–27 budget and discussed some difficult financial decisions ahead. The board found a way to reallocate funds to preserve three additional social worker positions, reducing planned cuts from six to three. The board reaffirmed its commitment to protecting classroom learning and student support services.
Board members heard key updates related to safe learning environments, sustainability, and workforce development. These included the rebuilding of West High and Highland High, growth in educator pathway programs, progress toward renewable energy goals, and improved hiring timelines that help schools fill positions more quickly.
Every student deserves to feel like they belong. District schools are growing inclusive classroom practices so students with disabilities are fully part of school life, not just present in it. Leaders shared updates on co-teaching, educator training, and efforts to strengthen access and inclusion for every student.
The board approved a new Student Advisory Council, creating meaningful opportunities for students from across the district to share input and help shape district priorities. Application details will be available soon for rising juniors and seniors.
Board members reviewed a draft agenda for the upcoming retreat and discussed the board's self-evaluation process, using last year's results as a baseline to measure growth.
